Mirek Zahalka

Mirek Zahalka lives and works in Prague, employed as head of the painting studio at the National Theatre in Prague. His work consists mainly of large paintings, but ranges from drawings, digital media, photography to the sculpture. Images can be described as expressive figural schemas embedded in individual records. Multiplying distorted view of the series of figurative subjects. Self-multiple losing its originality reducing the number of content errors. The spectrum of information is degraded or removed. The result is a collection of image manipulation, which circulates in these changes. Figural material gradually fills the entire space, outgrow it. Visual elements are seen in a new detail in a new context. We are closer to reality only from the distance. Drawing is a full part of the painting. Scarred body is fully immersed in the visual depth.
